The Mayor of Liverpool City Council opens Birtenshaw School, Merseyside at official ceremony.
Birtenshaw School, Merseyside was officially opened by Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool City Council on Friday 23 November 2018. The opening ceremony was attended by family, friends, supporters and representatives of the architects (Kier) and the construction team (Willmott Dixon) to name a few!
The ceremony involved children from all classes performing various short plays and sketches. Many parents, family and friends had a little tear in their eyes watching their children perform for the first time on a stage with such enthusiasm and confidence.
David Reid (Chief Executive of the Birtenshaw Group), welcomed everybody to the event. Julie Barnes (Executive Principal / Deputy Chief Executive) provided an overview of the success of the school since admitting pupils for the first time in September 2018 and Kathryn Brown (Chair of the School Governing Board) provided a Governor’s perspective on how well things are going.
Shortly after the event, children made ‘Thank You’ cards for the Mayor.
Joe Anderson tweeted afterwards:
‘Honoured to be asked to officially open Birtenshaw School, one of our 18 new schools. A wonderful brand new facility brought to life by dedicated staff and remarkable children, with the support of parents and governors. A bright future ahead for all involved’.
