Assisted Technology Project
Assisted technology enables disabled children and young people to control their environment. The control systems reduce a disabled child’s reliance on another person and provide empowerment, freedom and greater independence. This specialist assistive technology enhances the quality of life for disabled children and will enable them to operate household equipment and appliances independently with a remote control.
For disabled children and young people, the ability to speak and communicate can be difficult and leads to feelings of frustration, isolation and exclusion. Assisted technology can produce speech with digitised voice recordings or a synthesized voice. These devices can break down many of the barriers that exist and can promote freedom of expression and independence. with tactile balls and colour packs, through to the calming sounds of natural music.
