I have worked in children’s services for approximately 28 years. During that time I have worked for three North West Local Authorities and a number of charitable organisations both in front line work and in management roles.

I am passionate about providing quality services that actually improve the quality of people’s lives.

I was appointed as the Chief Executive at Birtenshaw in July 2006. Back then the organisation had been in decline for a long time and was on the brink of closing down.

I am delighted that with the dedication and hard work of the team and support from our bank and the Social Investment Business we were able to move to a new site with our Head Office co-located with a Short Break Centre, Hydrotherapy Centre, and a new bespoke special school in 2012. This gave us a higher profile and enabled us to develop a wider range of education and care services.

I am pleased that Birtenshaw is now a provider of choice for many Local Authorities and that we are able to brighten lives and create better futures for more disabled children and young people than at any time in our 60 year history.
